Four day course

 

8:30 am – 4:30 pm daily

 

This training course will enable you to give a helping hand in a variety of chaplain services. Topics covered are as follows.

 

DAY 1

 

Introduction to Chaplaincy: A Historical Perspective - Legal Considerations Chaplain Ethics – Cross Cultural Considerations – Burnout and Stress Management.

 

DAY 2

 

Substance Abuse – Death Notification – Issues Related to Suicide – Crisis Psychology – The Chaplain in the Community.

 

DAY 3

 

Understanding the Law Enforcement Culture – Critical Incident and Crisis Response – Post Shooting Syndrome – Officer Injury and Death – Safety and Protocol.

 

DAY 4

 

Youth Violence - Youth and Domestic Violence - Youth Gangs - Missing and Exploited Children - School Resource Chaplain Protocols.

 

No educational credits are issued for this course

 

Upon completion of this course individuals should...

  • Apply as a volunteer for a local police department or sheriff’s department.

  • Obtain a letter of appointment from the law enforcement agency.

  • Make an appointment with a school superintendent or principal to present the School Resource Chaplain program.


 

NOTES:

  • Completion of this training does not guarantee law enforcement acceptance or acceptance of the School Resource Chaplain program by a school. However, most law enforcement agencies and public school administrators welcome the added value brought by a professionally trained volunteer.

  • It is extremely important that applicants first be accepted as a volunteer law enforcement chaplain for this program to be accepted by schools.

  • We will be happy to offer assistance as needed and as we are available to present the chaplaincy and/or school chaplain program.
